General Membership Business Meeting, Presentation, and Lunch will be held in person on November 1st at the Arizona Heritage Center. Wade Weber, Director of Education at Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, will talk to us about the museum's new exhibit, "Light and Legacy: The Art and Techniques of Edward S. Curtis." Holiday Reception & Theatre Party

Celebrate the holiday with your friends and Historical League members on December 8th at 5:00 PM with a pre-theatre reception at Phoenix Country Club.  Enjoy the party with a no-host bar and passed gourmet hors d'oeuvres.

By 7:00 PM we will go the short distance to Phoenix Theatre for a 7:30 PM performance of Million Dollar Quartet Christmas. The show is a Christmas take on the legendary December 4, 1956 jam session that took place at the Sun Records Memphis studio when a twist of fate brought together Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley.. The Theatre has reserved seats towards the front for this Historical League performance until November 24th. The three levels of ticket prices are $90, $80, and $65.

Partiers may attend either or both the reception and the theatre.

Phoenix Country Club reception tickets may be purchased on this website or by a check sent to Mary Parker.

Phoenix Theatre seats may be chosen and purchased on our unique benefit performance link: https://tickets.phoenixtheatre.com/12914/12936?promo=historic

You may also order tickets by calling the Phoenix Theatre at 602-254-2151, but you must say you are purchasing tickets for the Historical League benefit performance.

This is a fund raising event. We hope many members will attend and also invite friends to what promises to be a wonderful evening!

Linda Starr, who has loved hats since she was 19 and has a hat collection spanning more than 140 years, will speak to us January 3rd on "Arizona Women Who Might Have Worn My Hats." She has more than 200 hats, found in antique stores, estate shows, and garage sales,  and from friends who gave her their grandmothers' beloved hats. Her collection took off in the 1990s when she started doing vintage fashion shows in Scottsdale for the Scottsdale Historical Society as a fund raiser. They had beautiful clothes but no hats and no accessories, so Linda started searching for them. Linda, who resides in Sedona but spent many years in Paradise Valley, has given programs at the Arizona Costume Institute of the Phoenix Art Museum, the Questers,  the Butterfly Museum,  and many others.  She is a life member of the Sedona Historical Society and Scottsdale Historical Society, and member of the Sedona Questers and Palatki Questers.

The General Business Meeting starts at 10:00 AM; Linda Starr follows at 11:00 AM with lunch at noon. Purchase your box lunch by 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 30th online. Or reserve your place with Mary McMahon and pay by check or cash in person. Members with reservations are responsible for payment even if unable to attend.
