Mystery Castle Tour

Phoenix's Mystery Castle is quite a marvel. If you have never visited it, this is your chance.  It is located at 800 E. Mineral Road. Following the tour given by the caretaker of the property for 40 years, lunch will be enjoyed at the very popular Farm Kitchen at The Farm at South Mountain. General Membership Meeting

The March General Membership business meeting, catered lunch $15 (optional), and program will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at the Arizona Heritage Center at Papago Park in Tempe.  Prepay for luncheons at this website, or send a reservation to JRMurray6@cox.net.   Lunch reservations are required, and the deadline is February 27, 2020.  Prepayment serves as a reservation, and acknowledgement of the prepayment and reservation will be received via return email. 

Our speaker after lunch is Roger Naylor, who writes Arizona articles for the Arizona Republic. He will speak on the legendary Kolb Brothers of Grand Canyon fame.

Ballet Arizona Tour

The March tour will be of Ballet Arizona, located at 2835 East Washington Street, Phoenix, on Thursday, March 19. Please carpool, as parking is very limited. To provide the opportunity to listen to the director speak during lunch time, a simple catered lunch will be provided.  Price for the tour for members is $40, and for non-members is $45.  Prepay at this website with your credit card, or send an email to Mary McMahon at m.km@cox.net.  Reservations are required, and must be received by Sunday, March 15.

Overnight Southern Arizona

The highly-anticipated overnight tour to Tucson and vicinity will be open for reservations and payment beginning February 12, and ending February 28.  No online payments will be accepted; it is necessary to send an email to the tour planner, Mary Garbaciak, at MDGarbaciak@gmail.com.  Mary will respond via email. The tour is limited to 40 participants, due to limitations at Lodge on the Desert, where the group will stay for the nights of April 14 and April 15.  There will be three days jam-packed with activities to tour historical sites, dine at good restaurants, and enjoy one of Arizona's most historical areas.  Members will have first choice for the 40 seats, with a waiting list developed for non-members who would like to make the trip.  When you contact Mary Garbaciak, she will provide you with the details and costs involved.

Arizona History Convention

For 59 years, the Arizona History Convention has welcomed all who are interested in knowing, and preserving, Arizona history.  This year the convention will be held in Tucson. April 16 - 18, at the Casino del Sol.  Particularly featured will be the history of the women's suffrage movement, as this years marks the 100th anniversary of winning the right to vote. Annual Meeting/Volunteer Appreciation

The annual meeting and volunteer appreciation luncheon is always well attended, especially when it is held at the beautiful and historic Phoenix Country Club.  The annual meeting will include the election of the board of directors for fiscal year 2020 - 2021, and awards to our volunteers for the many hours of service to the Historical League and the Arizona Heritage Center.  More details, including the featured speaker, will be forthcoming.
