General Membership Meeting, Lunch, & Speaker

Date: 4/4/2022

Time: 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM

Dr. David Breeckner, new Executive Director of the Arizona Historical Society, will address the Historical League on a "Look Forward--The Future of AHS."  Dr. Breeckner, who joined AHS in December, has spent his career working in the fields of history and archaeology, most recently with the Imperial Valley Desert Museum in Southern California.

He received his undergraduate degree at St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont, and his Masters and Doctorate in Classical Archeology at Trinity College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. He has served as a member of the faculty in the Department of History at both Southern New Hampshire University and San Diego State University, where his courses covered historical subjects and civilizations from prehistory through the Renaissance.

As an Executive Director, Dr. Breeckner specializes in institutional growth and community engagement. He believes that history belongs to the communities they represent, and that its study can provide new meaning and value to our present and future. His works and past accomplishments include a focus on community-based programs and events, including hikes, craft fairs and festivals, expansive public education programming, virtual video series, and much more.

Our General Business Meeting starts at 10:00 AM; lunch is served at 11:15 AM with Dr. Breeckner at 12:15 PM.  Purchase your lunch online by 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 31st.
