Historymakers™ are men and women who have distinguished themselves with noted achievements in such diverse areas as the arts, athletics, communications, community service, education and entertainment and who have maintained their ties to Arizona. How are they selected? Members of the Central Arizona Chapter of the Arizona Historical Society nominate living men and women. The names are submitted to a panel of notable Arizonans, who are of diverse backgrounds, for final selection. OBJECTIVES To raise funds with a Gala unique to the Historical League, for education, exhibits and other programs that assist the Arizona Historical Society Museum at Papago Park. *To contribute to the Museum's artifact, oral history and photographic collections. *To increase public awareness for the history Museum at Papago Park. *To recognize and honor outstanding Arizonans and to celebrate Arizona's Statehood Day, February 14, 1912. RECOGNITION PROGRAM Prior to the Gala event, each Historymakers™ participates in oral history, video and portrait sessions, and contributes memorabilia significant to his/her Arizona experience. GALA Historymakers™ Gala, is a formal celebration held to present the honorees. The highlight of the program is a video screening that depicts each Historymaker's™ unique life story and accomplishments. The Gala also features an exhibit of memorabilia each Historymakers™ has donated to the permanent collection of the Museum.

Ed Mell is a native Arizona artist whose art has become known and collected worldwide.
Elisabeth Ruffner is a historic preservationist who for more than 50 years has dedicated her labors to the City of Prescott, Yavapai County and the State of Arizona.
Richard and Alice "Dinky" Snell are involved in various philanthropic projects in Arizona. A native Phoenician, Richard has had an illustrious career path including practicing law with Snell & Wilmer, Chairman of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation, and Director of Aztar Corporation.
